Media giant Complex has built a reputation in the convention world with its annual event, ComplexCon, first introduced in Long Beach, Calif., in 2016. The convention has grown its reach and influence each year in the worlds of sneaker culture, hip-hop, fashion, design, food and art. This year, ComplexCon brings its force to Las Vegas, stepping outside of L.A. for the first time. “I wanted and needed to breathe new life into the event,” says Complex CEO Aaron Levant. “I really wanted to plant the flag into the ground in Las Vegas to really build the event into the future.” ComplexCon will return next year with plans for the next 10 years, each year, Levant says, hopefully immersing itself more and more into the city during its weekend takeover. This year, though, conventioneers are in for a memorable trek across a million square feet of space at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Nov. 16-17. This iteration of ComplexCon expands to four times its normal size as an unprecedented number of brands, exclusive activations and merchandise and experiences are on display. Let’s take a look at just some of the highlights:

• Every year, ComplexCon invites a celebrity to help curate the convention—this year welcomes Travis Scott and his own creative collective, Cactus Jack. While Scott has curated the convention’s look and feel, he’ll have his own convention within a convention—CactusCon, where attendees can shop his merchandise, including exclusive pieces from nearly a dozen special brand collaborations. 

• Attendees can purchase limited-edition, exclusive pieces from more than 200 brands including Nike (with the biggest activation at nearly 20,000 square feet, spread across three separate immersive experiences), Adidas, Glo Gang, Alexander Wang, New Balance, Fragment, Futura Laboratories, Ecko, Cactus Planet Flea Market, Mastermind, Vans, Saint Michael and more.

• Complex hosts its own activation with the ComplexCon gift shop with exclusive festival merch. This year, Complex collaborated with Japanese artist and illustrator Hajime Sorayama to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

• Panels and discussions return under the moniker ComplexConversations. Expect in-depth sessions with A-list actors, musicians, visual artists, athletes and business figures. Complex will also be filming in front of an audience for its popular YouTube channel.

• Complex’s popular L.A. Family Style Food Festival comes to the Las Vegas convention floor, bringing nearly 50 restaurants from L.A. and Las Vegas together to host a feeding frenzy of exclusive dishes and restaurant-branded merchandise. Brands include Naked City, Tiger Sugar, Rokstar Chicken, Camel Coffee, Trill Burgers, Howlin’ Rays and One Piece Café.

• Music is such a huge part of ComplexCon and, this year, the convention space is divided into two segments, with one third of the space being dedicated to live performances. Every day at 5 p.m., the live music space hosts musical stars including Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Metro Boomin and surprise guests. “It’ll be a full-scale festival stage setup,” Levant says.

• The art world descends on ComplexCon with one of the biggest booth displays from Known Gallery, featuring 800 artists exhibiting exclusive paintings and works.

• Resorts World Las Vegas is ComplexCon’s official partner hotel. For both days of the convention, the property turns into ComplexCon headquarters with exclusive after-parties and activations popping up at various venues. The highlight is Nov. 17, as Travis Scott and special guests close the convention with a huge performance at Zouk Nightclub.

“There’s a lot of concerts and festivals that people can go to, ComplexCon is so much more multi-faceted,” Levant says. “You can come here and get a multisensory experience. It’s almost like building a micro Disneyland for two days. If you’re in love with the culture that Complex represents this is like your Disneyland. It’s like the World’s Fair for this generation.”
